Catch up and push forward!

The days just seem to keep plowing forward, no matter how much I want to freeze time, take a deep breath, and enjoy what's going on for more than three minutes!

It's been yet another hectic week, as I'm falling back in love with my new-and-improved laptop (okay, it's not all new, just certain parts and pieces!). We've had some Texas staff in town this week, which always keeps things interesting. It seems I always end up with way more work when they leave then when they arrived!

But we had great movement on our new office space, including looking at furniture layout options yesterday. Now come on, that's fun!

Oh - let me back further up! Aunt Jerri sent these photos from Thanksgiving:
Aunt Jo cooking (see the big stove? One of the many reasons for Thanksgiving at the convent!)
The Petrons:
The birthday girls:
This week could have actually been worse in the busy department. I am on stand-by for jury duty. It's my first jury summons ever. In Alexandria, they give you a week, and a number. You have to call each day after 4 p.m., to learn about the follow day. If your number is called, you report.
So far, my number hasn't been called. Knock on wood, I really hope it isn't called tomorrow, either!
Okay, my three minute diversion for this morning is over! More to come!

Mo, re jury duty. Same thing happened to me earlier this year. I was called for Friday. We went, sat in the room, watched the crazy video produced in the early 90's, and then were released, because they couldn't find a lawer for the defendant! Ha! Good luck.

Funny, I just got my first summons a couple months ago, too. But filled out the form and sent it in, but no word yet. I'm hoping they forgot about me. I don't have much faith in the bureaucracy running the City of Baltimore.
Let us know if you're called.

They never forget. Summons and parking tickets are the only two things city governments do efficiently.

Yeah, Maureen, if you get picked, I want a play-by-play on the blog!

You don't know a good time until you are called for jury duty in the District. Due to the small number of eligible jurors relative to the amount of cases, DC residents get called every year. Literally. I never actually served on a case but I had to drag down there for 2 days out of every year. And watch the same crazy video referenced by Joe.

And in an odd twist of fate, I recently got called to serve on a Grand Jury. In New Jersey. I was kind of disappointed that I had a valid excuse for not appearing. I was imagining a Sopranosesque trial.
